Guy Maddin’s Cowards Bend The Knee is a “deliriously over-the-top blend of operatic melodrama, recycled Greek tragedy, motifs pilfered from film noir, and silent-film conventions” (Film Journal International), presented here along with his short films Trumpet Island Host Séance (world premiere screening), Workbooks: Chimney/Rooster/Zookeeper (world premiere screening), and Odin’s Shield Maiden, all with live accompaniment.
